To demonstrate Shorinji Kempo is also one of our training of Shorinji Kempo. The main purpose of the demonstration is to develop strong body and mind.
Before we demonstrate, we practice very diligently so that we can demonstrate very smoothly in public. It means the the preparation for the demonstration is the good opportunity for us to enhance our training and develop our skills and energy highly.
Moreover, the public demonstration can make us have strong mind. The more we demonstrate in public, the more we have confidence and the less we feel nervous. We practice a lot until we have strong confidence to demonstrate in public.
Therefore, we do not feel nervous even when we demonstrate in front of 1000 audiences. Therefore, the demonstration has the mutual effect as sitting Zen. The purpose of the sitting Zen is to calm mind (Heijou shin) and have strong mind. By demonstration in public, it is possible for us to calm mind and have strong mind. To have the calm mind and strong mind can lead to "True Strength."
